Desperate for you

My hand lacks your hand lately,

Your fingers locked with mine so tightly.
My heart is burning with fire without you,
I feel half-dead without the twin flame of us two.

My ribs are turning to ashes,
And so are my eyelashes.
I want my eyes to flood out the tears in one go,
But even my eyes feel so fierce, like an inferno.

Your deprivation has led to a drastic drought,
My eyes won’t flow, also choking my dry throat.
As dry as my throat are the nerves of my body and brain,
Stop the hell from rising inside me and fall for me like the rain.

I am desperate, not for you but for the flame in you,
You can call me crazy; that is what I become in deprivation of us two.

                                              ~Aastha’s poetic pen

Here’s a breakdown of the key devices used:

1. Imagery

   - The poem paints vivid pictures that appeal to the senses.

     - "My ribs are turning to ashes" evokes a sense of decay and pain.

     - "Stop the hell from raising inside me and fall for me like the rain" creates a contrasting image of torment and soothing relief.

2. Metaphor

   - Several lines use metaphors to express emotions indirectly:

     - "My heart is burning with fire without you" compares longing to fire.

     - "Your deprivation has led to a drastic drought" equates emotional emptiness to a physical drought.

3. Personification

   - Giving human traits to inanimate objects or abstract ideas:

     - “My ribs are turning to ashes" suggests fragility and destruction.

-"Stop the hell from raising inside me" personifies inner turmoil as a living force.

4. Alliteration

   - The repetition of consonant sounds adds rhythm:

     - "fall for me like the rain"

     - "flood out the tears in one go"

5. Repetition

   - Key phrases and ideas are repeated for emphasis:

     - "My eyes" and "My throat" highlight physical manifestations of emotional pain.

6. Symbolism

   - Certain elements symbolize deeper emotions:

     - “Twin flame" represents an intense soul connection.

     - "Rain" symbolizes relief and renewal amidst the inner storm.

 7. Enjambment

   - Lines flow into the next without a pause, reflecting the speaker’s unfiltered emotions:

     - "I want my eyes to flood out the tears in one go, But even my eyes feel so fierce like an inferno."

8. Hyperbole

   - Exaggeration is used to convey the intensity of emotions:

     - "As dry as my throat are the nerves of my body and brain" emphasizes the all-encompassing impact of longing.

9. Contrast

   - Opposing images heighten the emotional tension:

     - "Stop the hell from raising inside me and fall for me like the rain" juxtaposes torment and comfort.

10. Rhyme Scheme

   - While the rhyme is not consistent throughout, moments of rhyme enhance the flow:

     - "ashes/lashes"

     - “drought/throat"
